Which duvet to choose

Each of us prefers to sleep with a different duvet. Some like a very warm duvet, others prefer a cold one because they feel hot at night. Some prefer their duvet to be light, while others sleep better with a heavy duvet. In fact, a survey on the subject shows that more than half of the respondents prefer a duvet they can feel around them. This is very interesting, as goose down duvets and similar products marketed as the exclusive choice are often very light and for many people do not fulfil the need for weight. However, the result is not surprising as humans have always sought peace and quiet, which is exactly what you get from a heavy duvet.

When children are very young, it's normal for parents to try to create a safe ”nest” where the child is surrounded by a physical environment that provides a sense of closeness and security. Placing a hand on a child who is sleeping restlessly is often used as it creates a sense of security for the child, allowing them to fall into a deeper sleep. It's something you gradually stop doing as children sleep better, but in fact, we never outgrow the need for a safe and calm environment, just as we never outgrow the beneficial effects of closeness, hugs and caresses. We may get better at moving on without them, but our quality of life is directly influenced by neurotransmitters from our brain, and they are positively affected by touch and the feeling of being safe.

Size

When choosing your duvet, make sure it's the right size. It is especially important that the duvet is not too small. It will cause restlessness during the night if the duvet doesn't lie properly and if your feet keep sticking out and getting cold. HeavyZleep offers duvets with lengths of 200 cm and 220 cm. The standard width is 140 cm, which is suitable for most people. If you prefer an even wider duvet, the double duvet is an option as it is available in the size 200 cm x 220 cm.

The HeavyZleep 1500 is a junior duvet that is half the size of the adult duvet HeavyZleep 3000. Measuring 100 cm x 140 cm, depending on the size of the child, it is ideal from around 1.5 years to 5-6 years, when many switch to an adult duvet. A child under the age of 6 can also sleep with an adult size. The weight is the same - there will just be a part of the duvet that is not used, so it depends on the size of the bed.

If you are in doubt, you are always welcome to contact us and we will help you find the right size.

Weight

As mentioned, the weight you prefer for your duvet varies greatly. What they all have in common is that if the duvet slides off or is rolled up at the end of the bed, it's of no use to you. A duvet should stay on top of the person sleeping with it, and a heavy duvet helps keep it in place. HeavyZleep offers 2 different weight classes, HeavyZleep 2250 and HeavyZleep 3000. The big difference lies in the bolster, i.e. the fabric, which is both cotton, but with 2 different weaves and thread sizes. HeavyZleep 2250 is lighter and less dense than HeavyZleep 3000, which makes the duvet more like a regular duvet, but about 2-3 times heavier. The HeavyZleep 3000 has a strong bolster that gives the feeling of a strong and firm duvet, but of course with the good properties of quality feathers and down.

So if you're looking for a heavier version of the duvets you know, we recommend the HeavyZleep 2250, but if you're looking for a duvet that is stronger and more powerful in every way, we recommend the HeavyZleep 3000, which incidentally is our best-selling model.

The weight doesn't make much difference to the warmth category of the duvets. They are both all-season duvets that you can enjoy all year round, with the possible exception of those very hot summer nights. The composition of the filling ensures that the duvets wick both moisture and heat away from the body, so you stay at a comfortable temperature and are neither cold nor too hot. Our duvets are made from 100 % natural materials, which also ensures efficient transport of heat and moisture away from the body. It is difficult for the body to breathe in fibre down products and polyester, which also pollute our environment with plastic.

Choosing a duvet

Although sleep is a personal preference, there's a clear trend that more and more people are seeking the ”good old-fashioned” sleep. This is mainly due to the fact that our lifestyles have changed significantly with the advent of mobile phones and tablets and the entire digital world, which puts pressure on our daily lives and not least sleep. Sleep should be unproblematic and immediate, which can lead to both stress and frustration when you don't feel like you're sleeping well. A heavy duvet from HeavyZleep can be one of the things that help you both fall asleep and sleep more soundly, resulting in better quality sleep. Unfortunately, you get used to being under-slept and therefore don't always realise how bad your sleep is.

If you're unsure if a heavy duvet is right for you, contact us for a chat. We recommend that you try sleeping with a duvet from HeavyZleep and then try going back to your old duvet. You'll really realise how indispensable a heavy duvet quickly becomes and how much it can do for a good night's sleep.

We are always ready to help you sleep, and if you have any questions about our duvets, you are of course always welcome to contact us, both by email kontakt@heavyzleep.dk and phone 81727282.
