OEKO-TEX® is the world's leading health labelling for textile products - more widely used than other similar labels and can cover all aspects of production. Products and materials are tested for a wide range of substances to ensure that they do not contain harmful substances that can be harmful to the body in either the short or long term
Legal requirements are taken into account - and the certificate places much higher demands on the products than the current legislation in the field.
In addition to the annual checks at the renewal of each certificate, random checks of 25-30% of all products worldwide with the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® label are carried out every year, i.e. the OEKO-TEX® institutes cross-check each other - this increases the security and credibility of the label.
OEKO-TEX® certification requires that all parts of the product meet the standard, so you cannot use the label if only certain parts have been tested and approved. All HeavyZleep products are OEKO-TEX® certified.
NOMITE is the most important guarantee against dust mites in down and feather products. A Nomite spring or bolster is so tightly woven that it forms a real barrier against dust mites and skin scales, which are the mites' food, as they cannot penetrate the fabric, and the weave also means that feathers and down cannot penetrate the fabric either.
There used to be a common misconception that down and feather products are not suitable for dust mite allergy sufferers, but recent research shows that this is an unfounded fear. With Nomite certification, you are completely safe from these allergies, and many people actually recommend down and feathers over fibre down (plastic fibres) as the latter's inability to transport moisture and heat actually gives dust mites better conditions than the natural choice.
All our feather and down products are NOMITE certified, and yours should be too.
The Downafesh certificate is associated with the down and feathers used in, for example, duvets and pillows. To achieve the certification, the filling must meet strict European standards, which require that the down and feathers are washed and dried at a minimum of 100°C. This ensures that there are no bacteria, viruses or anything else that can cause discomfort and that the filling fulfils the European standard EN 12935. Downafresh fillings can only be treated with the mildest and most environmentally friendly agents, which also helps to preserve the unique properties of down and feathers in terms of insulation and heat and moisture transport. To obtain the certificate, the manufacturer has agreed to have its products checked regularly by independent test laboratories to ensure the cleanliness and hygienic properties of the products.
In addition, down and feathers are required to be traceable to their original source to ensure that the collection has been done in accordance with current animal welfare legislation.
At HeavyZleep, we only use Downafresh down and feathers in our products and we recommend not compromising on quality when there are standards that ensure products and materials as broad as Downafresh.
HeavyZleep is constantly striving to be the sustainable choice. That's why we work with every part of the company when we look at what we can do better and what things we can change to ensure that what we deliver lives up to our high standards of sustainability. This applies to the processing of materials and production itself, but also packaging and shipping, and everything else where we leave a footprint.
We do this to keep our planet as safe as possible, which is why it's crucial that we get everyone else thinking along the same lines.
That's why we support Eco-friendly Packaging and we encourage all other companies to do the same. This is where many small streams make a big river, and where a joint effort can actually have a positive impact on the future of the planet. In fact, we believe that we can help turn the tide with thoughtful solutions that can help make a difference that we can't even fully realise ourselves. Eco-friendly packaging demands commitment and real action from companies, and we are willing to go all the way!
Environmentally friendly packaging includes the following guidelines:
- Minimal packaging is used whenever possible
- Reusable packaging is used
- Packaging made from recycled material is used
- The smallest possible cardboard box is used
- A minimal amount of packing slips, delivery notes, etc. are printed.
HeavyZleep fully intends to live up to the above, which is why we do not include packing slips, delivery notes and the like. These are handled digitally only. As you can see below, our shipping boxes are made of FSC-certified cardboard and our boxes fit our products, so we do not ship air or excess filling.
FSC is an international non-profit labelling scheme for wood and paper. FSC neither produces nor sells goods. You'll find the FSC label on wood and paper products that you can buy with a clear conscience.
You can do this because in an FSC forest, no more wood is harvested than the forest can reproduce. At the same time, FSC ensures that animals and plant life are protected and that the people working in the forest are trained and receive proper safety equipment and wages.
FSC is the only global wood labelling scheme that has broad support from green organisations such as WWF, Greenpeace and World Forests, social organisations such as the BAT cartel, and businesses around the world.
The above is taken from the official FSC website. We have added it under our certificates because we are proud to use FSC-certified cardboard boxes and cartons for our product shipments. The products need to be packed and we want to do this as responsibly as possible - also in the long term.
